Skin? Is It In? Beach Volleyball Says 'Yes'

As many often overlooked sports stuggle for attention, Beach Volleyball - which made its mark on the recent Olympics - seems to have taken the "ball by the horns."

This from Stuart Elliott's column today in the New York Times (free registration) on an advertising campaign for the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP).

What do you think? Does this degrade the sport? Or raise it to a higher level of awareness? Or somewhere in between?

Let me know!

I do not feel like it degrades the sport. It is almost like saying that people watch swimming competitions just for the bathing suits. Any person who understands volleyball should know that the uniform that is worn is proper attire for the beach and a beach sport. I am excited that people are actually watching some sort of volleyball. Maybe their interests will grow and they will move on to watching indoor volleyball.

People go to beach volleyball for the brief attire they way they go to hockey games for the fights. It's part of the fabric of the experience and in the case of volley ball, it's the thread in the fabric. Well, you know what I mean.
